In The Car Carpooling Wrong: Upon asking to be picked up in a car pool situation, the driver requests that when he tells you he's almost there, you walk outside and wait by the curb to be picked up. Instead of making it convenient for the driver, whom is doing you a favor, you decide to wait inside anyway, not even worrying about looking out the window. The driver cannot find the house because the street numbers are impossible to see or distinguish. The driver circles around looking for the house and only locates you when you finally come outside. Even when entering the car, you give no explanation or excuse. Right: You ask to be picked up in a car pool situation from a friend or acquaintance. The driver naturally says yes but requests you be on time, and be outside so that he can easily find the correct house. You say you fully understand and will definitely be ready in standing outside. You do this way ahead of time and the driver easily locates you and your home. You gingerly get into the car and profusely thank the driver, and apologize for taking him a little out of the way. To show your further appreciation, you offer/insist to pay for any toll (if applicable). You are an intelligent person who appreciates when somebody goes out of their way for you.
